TRAVEL GRANTS AND CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) announces scholarship awards for
APIAHF VOICES 2019: Dare to be Brave.
INVITATION TO APPLY
APIAHF invites you to apply for a conference scholarship to attend the VOICES 2019 Conference on September 10-12, 2019 in Washington, DC. The national conference entitled, VOICES 2019: Dare to Be Brave: We Were Built for This, will bring together health leaders and allies from across the country to share best practices and network to engage in stronger relationships, collaborations and strategies to advance health justice policies for for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
We want as many AA and NHPI leaders as possible to attend VOICES this year so that we can all benefit from the shared learning and experiences. However, we also understand that costs may prohibit attendance. To help offset travel costs, APIAHF will be awarding a limited number of full and/or partial travel grants and conference scholarships to VOICES 2019.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT REQUIREMENTS
Attend all VOICES programming (arriving Monday, September 9 and departing Thursday, September 12 after 4PM EST)
Develop and/or Deepen Relationships with Members of Congress (this is lobbying)
Engage your district (house) or state (senate) offices during August to meet with staff/member to introduce your organization’s mission and history
Visit Washington, D.C. offices on Wednesday, September 11th, 2019 to meet legislative staff
Follow-up with offices after returning home (send thank you, schedule a follow-up visit, or plan a site visit)
Please note that only a small subset of scholarships funds have been set aside to support partners who want to engage in lobbying visits. If you prefer to apply for an educational visit scholarship, please let me know and I will send you a different application link.
